Throwback Anyday: Bumper Crop from September 2016

This was a mixed month for me, camera-wise and emotionally. I wrote these posts soon after returning to Japan. I had been in the UK for an extended period to be with my mum in her final months. Some of these posts deal with that. It is nice to reflect on that now, I am through the other side. I still have moments when the ball hits my button, but it occurs less and less.

There you go, another month updated. As you can see, I did not stick to my end-date plan. Do I stick to any plans??

    I really like these posts on your blog, it always reminds me that it’s very healthy to look at our travel diaries. In a difficult time you got some very beautiful photos with the Olympus OM10, I’ve had a bit of a bad streak with those Olympus, but as you say, they sold a huge amount of units around the world, so I’m sure I’ll find one that works for me. I have an OMG and the beautiful OM1 (I now have two OM1s! because I found a really good deal).

      My om10 right now is a bit suspect but still works. I should use my OM4 more. But I would really like another OM1 or 2. .or the OMG, omg I love the OMs!!!

    What a fun throwback this week!
    A real roller-coaster of envious piquancy and sour memory –

    the terrific shots made with your 35 GSN – dead envious: my only experience of it was to utterly fail to bring one back to life many years ago, despite long-distance coaching via message board from a kind and very patient engineer in Europe.

    And those construction site Konicas – you have re-kindled the lust for a 28mm specimen, but holy-moley! the shipping costs! and the pig-in-a-poke chanciness factor;

    then there’s those teeny tiny OMs, a definite unscratched itch – believe I’m gonna hafta indulge in some that used-camera analgesic therapy you speak of: why, if it didn’t work, we wouldn’t do it.

      Yeah, but if you get a good genba they are so sharp. I don’t think you would regret it. I did manage to get an M640 very cheap..last year.

        Hah! Saw your reply at dawn – MR640, hmmm…appears to be more info on the ‘Net than formerly … far down the rabbit hole already – trying to suss out the 28-56 zoom … any experience, rumors, gossip about that model?

        Strolling through eBay sellers in Japan … most of ’em were rode hard and put up wet – “tiny fungus”

        Buuttt thennnn … “Film tested!” US seller, 100% positive rating.
        We’ll see.

        MR640 done n’ dusted; 16 frogskins (12.86 pounds sterling in real money).

        Plus, ah, 11.73 USD for shipping. < $28 bucks all in.

        I have *got* to stop reading in this blog …
