Last year, I decided to go camping in Wales. It was a great and terrible decision. I love the trip. On the drive to the camping site I stopped at Gigrin Farm, which was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I was late getting to the camp site, so I put up the tent, slept, and headed to Freshwater West Beach the next day. If you didn’t know already, it is the site of Dobby’s grave.
I am not a big Harry Potter fan. I have read the books and seen the films. I mainly did it so I could answer questions from my students, who were HUGE fans. But, as I was in the area I decided to go check it out.
I took my Old Standard, loaded with Ilford Pan F.
I loved the beach, it was quiet and emotive.
Here are most of my results.

On my way back to the tent, the wind was picking up. My tent was practically flat. I decided to pack up and drive home two days early. It was a hard drive, nothing was open. It took over 5 hours and I finally got home around 1:30am, shattered.
I was sad to cut my trip short but it was the right decision as a named storm was due and my poor tent would not have survived. Here hoping this year will be better…not so far.
Well, these are lovely shots; I can’t think how I’d missed that post about the acqusition and rehabilitation of the camera back in ’23. Thanks as always!
Thank you. I have a few 6×6 cameras, but this one has a different look to the shots.
Agreed. As the risk of being pilloried by some of your other readers, I’d say that Old Standard produces marvelous bokeh.
Well, I agree 🙂
I love the Harry Potter stories, I definitely love Dobby a lot. I don’t feel any affection for the writer of this great saga. What a beautiful Rolleiflex camera, you did a great job with it, the photos prove it.
Thank you. Dobby does seem to have a great following. There were quite a few people at the site. A few were a little emotional.
