I truly mean that title. It is the only way to describe Evelyne Dierikx. She is someone I have never met, but maybe one day I will. I first came into contact with her when I bought one of her beautiful zines; this was before COVID. Then, during the first lockdown Christmas, she sent me an enormous package of film items out of the blue. She said she just wanted to cheer someone up at a sad time. Upon receiving it, I burst into tears; even my dad became a little emotional. It arrived at such a low moment in my life and gave me something to look forward to. She did it again recently, another box of film-related items with no expectation of anything in return.
Well, I couldn’t have that; there had to be a return of sorts from my side. So I packed up a camera or two, along with some film and sent it back. In the package was a Fuji Nexia with two rolls of APS film, one of which I had pre-shot with background-type shots, and I said she should focus on the main event. The other film was hers to do with as she pleased: shoot it or continue the project with someone else.
Once she had shot her part of the project, she sent me the files. Here are most of the results.

I love them; some are quite ethereal. I can’t even choose my favourite as there are too many I like.
Once again, expired APS proved it is perfect for this type of project. There are no problems with lining up frames due to the magnetic strip.
The world needs more Everlyns in the world.
