I have already tried the 210-AF and the 230-AF with varied results. This one came to me via a friend who was reducing her collection. It came with a flash which was not working, but it was brought to life with a little vinegar and copper tape.

It looks like a typical 90s SLR which it is as it was produced between 1987-91. This is the more basic version of the popular 230AF, maybe that is why I can’t find out much about it. Saying that, it still has all the features you would need, like aperture, speed and manual modes. You can even change the focusing mode from single to continuous.
The camera accepts DX coded film and there is no override. I loaded mine with a roll of Kodak 200 and took it to Coventry. Using the camera was easy, point and shoot. The automatic focusing was fairly quick and responsive. The standard 35-70mm lens was just wide enough and zoomy enough for everyday shooting. I liked using it, I didn’t love using it but it was ok, a meh camera. This post raves about it though.
However, the results kind of changed my opinion.

The very last shot used the flash and reaffirmed my dislike of flash shots. But the rest are super sharp. I really like the first shot of the Cathedral statue.
And that’s it. I don’t have a great deal to say about the camera. I had a fun day and Coventry was surprisingly nice, but I think that was due to the company rather than the place. I think I will see if the original owner wants the camera back otherwise I will be passing this on to a new owner.
This month has been a little busy offline and I have so many things to write about, but no time to do it. Hopefully, I will get back into the swing of things soon.
What a beautiful place for beautiful photographs. In the years of this amazing Yashica, there was a common design in many brands, as a path before the digital era. I have a very similar Chinon CP-7m, you have written about that camera model. Good combination of lens and film, the photo of the rose is gorgeous! (” Rose is rose is..”).
The rose is in my garden, i have pruned it so it grows tall above a rhododendron bush, high in the sky. So when the sky is blue the colours are amazing.
