Photo Post: More from North Wales

I recently wrote about the Pentax 17, and many of the photos were taken in North Wales. Of course, I also took a couple of other cameras, so I thought I would post those photos too.

I took 3 cameras in all, and chose 3 different formats. The Pentax was a half-frame, of course, but I also took a medium format and a 35mm camera.

Yashica A
I wanted to take this camera as the last time I used it, I was disappointed with the results. They seemed out of focus or at least soft. I had used a push-on filter, but it shouldn’t have made a difference. I only used one film on this trip as I was unsure if the results would be sharp. I loaded an expired roll of Kodak Tri-X 400 and took it to Harlech Castle. I have wanted to visit this castle since childhood after watching this scene in Zulu.

As castles go, it was stunning. If you want to know more about the Battle of Rourke’s Drift, then this is a great video. The day I went was windy, and the clouds were rolling in.

I developed the roll in Pyro, maybe I should have used Rodinal, but there you go. I just wasn’t feeling the camera. But, it looks like the camera is fine 🙂 Lucky me, and the feeling is back.

Nicca iiiL
The other camera was this stunning Nicca that was serviced into a fully working, smooth-actioned example by Newton & Ellis. I haven’t used it much, due to the nature of this blog, but decided to make it my one 35mm for this holiday.

I used 3 films, Santa Color, Poly Pan F 50, and Fomapan 100.
