Photo Post: Miranda MS-1n and Kodak Double Plus X

I have been shooting lots over the past few weeks due to the summer holidays and the drought-inducing weather. Though I have lots of cameras to play with, some new, some borrowed, I returned to this reliable Miranda for a few days out.

It was loaded with Kodak Double Plus X, which had been rerolled and sold by an online firm. I won’t link to them as I feel a bit ‘Karen’ about the experience. The box it came in had no development information, so I wrote to the company and asked what they recommended. The reply I got was, “Do what you usually do.” Which was not very helpful. I looked at the massive dev chart and used that information, but the film came out underdeveloped. So I asked Alex Luyckx, and he gave me a time for Rodinal at a ratio of 1:50 for 13 minutes at 20 degrees.

These are most of the results.

Thanks, Alex.

The first part of the film was shot at Spurn Point, then Wharram Percy, then around my house…look at that dry ground, and finally Blackpool.

I’m guessing the film is actually “Double X”, a vintage cinema stock … because there there never was a “Double Plus X” emulsion from Kodak … at least not in the 65 years I’ve shot their products.
