The Big Film Photowalk šŸŽ‰ 29th June 2024

Welcome to the Biggest Concurrent UK Film Photowalk….EVER! So says Analogue Wonderland.

Off the back of the Record Store Day that always drives a load of attention to vinyl and analogue music, they were reflecting that there’s not a similar film photography initiative. Rather than try and copy it directly they figured they could try and create something that pulls together hundreds of folk from all around the country on a single day to share their enthusiasm for film.

With multiple locations around the country, their plan was thatĀ everyoneĀ would be within a reasonable distance from a photowalk that suits them.

Organised in partnership with Kodak šŸŽžļø plus a second top secret partner to be revealed by Analogue Wonderland later, I was asked to be involved. I read the part that said EVERYONE and with inspiration coming from Alicelauradoesfilm I tried to organise an inclusive and accessible walk. She says…

ā€œAs a community, I think it’s important to consider inclusivity and accessibility as much as we can and listen to those who have lived experienceā€

With that in mind, I moved the location away from the hustle and bustle of Blackpool sea front to the quieter Stanley Park. The main reasons for this change of location are:

  • It is wheelchair friendly with an accessible bathroom and parking.
  • There are quiet places if anyone needs time for themselves.
  • It is an outside area so service animals are welcome.
  • Maps and information about the park are available online, so you can prepare yourself and know what to expect.

To help make the photowalk even more accessible:

  • The walk will be slow paced, so people can stop for a snack or come and go they please.
  • There will be local guides from HiveArts, Blackpool with high-viz vests to help you find your way and guide you around the park.
  • We will collect your film at the end of the walk and post it to Analogue Wonderland for you. That’s if you finish your film of course.

BUT, what if you don’t have a film camera and would like to join in?

Don’t worry, there will be a number to borrow on the day. You will be able to choose from a simple point and shoot or a more advanced SLR. There will be manual and fully automatic cameras to suit any level of mobility. The guides will be on hand to help you load your camera and advise you on how it works.

Tickets can be found at this website.

The ticket is for one roll of Kodak film, its processing and possible camera hire, but carers can join the walk free of charge.

Myself and the other guides are looking forward to meeting you and helping you get the most out the day and enjoy using film!

12 pounds is a really good deal for film, processing, a fine locale, and companionship. Advance congratulations to you for laying this out so well!
