Throwback Anyday: Olympus OM1

Here is another throwback from January 2016. It was the first camera I ever really fixed and was so happy with it. In the end, I think I gave this to a friend in Japan. I wish I still had it…but I do have many other cameras. How I wish I could find another for $20.

My dad bought an Olympus OM-1 with an f1.4 50mm lens before a family trip to Alaska in 1977 or 78. I loved that camera — so compact.

I think many of the OMs are very compact. It was why they were my first love in camera terms. Compact, but quality.

Beautiful camera, beautiful lenses. The shutter sound is very soft. In the early 80’s I dreamed of the Olympus OM1 and OM2 but they were very expensive. The Konica Autoreflex TC became my first reflex. Surely nostalgia made me have the OM1 in my collection today. It was like returning to my first love! I agree with you Peggy.
