I have been using a lot of Ilford HP5 lately. I bought a bulk roll which expired in 2007 from eBay. I have been mostly shooting it at box speed or 320asa.

The 139 is one of my favourite cameras; I have a few of those 😉 But this one really is. I got it for a bargain price of £5 when WYC was closing down, and it worked perfectly. I have recovered it in stamps to honour the Queen, who had recently died. Finally, it is very light even when paired with my f1.4 lens.

I took this set-up to a few places, a lot of them the same as the OM4 which I just posted about. It was my ‘backup’ just in case that camera failed. I should have trusted my friend, as the Olympus was perfect.

For this roll, I also took with me a couple of Cokin filters which I had just acquired: the 25x multi and a graduated grey. I am sure you will see where I used them.

I can’t recommend the Yorkshire Sculpture Park enough. If you are a regular reader of the blog, you will notice it features a lot. I went there nearly every weekday for 4 years as I trained to be a teacher. I now have an art pass, which means I can go for free whenever I want, so I do. Phone signals there are spotty, so it is best to go with a paper map or a friend who knows their way around.

The last few photos were taken inside Wakefield Cathedral. I have lived in the area for over 45 years and barely go into the Cathedral. It is one of those buildings that is just there, always there. You see it almost every day. But on this day, I decided to go inside for a wander. I was surprised at how clean and ‘kempt’ it was. The stained glass looked so bright, in such good condition. The lack of chairs just opened it up and the full vista could be marvelled at. I noticed things I had not seen before, like a human skull high up on one wall. I bought a guidebook and read it when I got home. I will definitely go back. Wakefield might not be the best or biggest city in the world, but we do have some great places in the district to visit.
