I pretended to be North American for this 127 day, January 27th – which is backwards, but as it fell on a Saturday it worked for me. Rarely does this day fall on a weekend and even more rarely is it not raining, either in January or December…or even July.
So I loaded a cut roll of Kentmere 400 into my Yashica 44 and headed into Leeds. I was on a mission, it was early and I was heading to the cinema for the 10am showing of Godzilla Minus One. It turned out to be the most comfy cinema I had ever been too, and even Godzilla had trouble keeping me awake. By the time I came out of the movie, I was soooo sleepy and was about to give up on the whole thing. Then I saw the pigeons flying above me. Perfect, I love a good pigeon photo. So I basically stayed in one place and captured what was around me. Here are a half the shots I got, my submission is among them, can you guess which one?

Here’s to the next one, 12th July 2024 which is a SUNDAY 🙂
Easy to pick the winner for me. The people who are nicely framed by the pigeons. Well done.
I like one too, I have another like that on a different camera, which I prefer. I will post that roll/project next. So it wasn’t the one I chose for this roll.
I agree with Karen … but the lower right corner shot, with pigeons in the distance and right on top of your lens, is also remarkable. Both break from the normal camera elevations (between waist and eye level) and that makes ’em both intriguing.
That’s the one I chose 🙂 I love how the close pigeons are blurred in at the sides.
