Well….oops and a friend’s prints type of day

Yesterday, I spent quite a bit of time writing a post and adding stuff to the online shop powered by Spring. I added some AI-created t-shirts with womble-type creatures and cameras. Unfortunately, I hadn’t read the small print and you can’t use them for profit, just for personal use. Luckily a reader very quickly pointed that out, thank-you to you.

So I ordered a couple of T-shirts for myself and then removed them from the shop. Now, to be fair, unless I sold thousands of them, there isn’t really a profit in it for me, it is just lovely to see people wearing my designs. Rules are rules though, and I like to stick to them. So you can get other designs from the shop, but not the AI-created ones.

While I am here, I also wanted to mention a friend’s totally legitimate print shop, unlike my dodgy AI transgression.

Analogue Holly has just reopened her print shop after a little break so I ordered a lovely flower.

You can see a better image on the shop’s website.

There is always a thought when you also make photos…well, I could take that photo. But I didn’t and she did and it is lovely. I am proud to own one of her prints as well as things from other photographers. Whether it be zines, books, prints or t-shirts it is important to support our creative friends.

That being said, as some of my friends know, if I don’t like something I won’t spend my money on it. I don’t have much, so I like to buy things that bring me joy rather than just spend for the sake of it. That feels hard at times, but you can’t buy everything. I wish I could.

Peggy — sorry to have shot down the t-shirts with the AI-assisted design — they look great, but yeah, you don’t want Microsoft chasing you down for the sake of a few t-shirts!!! As Her Majesty might have said when she was alive, “Carry On and Keep Shooting Pictures!” — Cheers!

Thank you Peggy! As a photographer I always think that about other people’s photographs lol! However I did order one of Morag’s Polaroid transfer prints from her exhibition which I’m really happy about. A technique I really want to try but haven’t yet!

You made a meaningful comment when you said you could have shot an identical photo, but you didn’t. I often feel the same about art in other media as well as photography. ‘Tis a blessing of the internet economy to be able to support other artists who actually ^DO^ make these things !
