What’s in the Bag? Day Eight – Final Day

Here we are, the final reveal.

Let’s get straight to the video, as it is a little longer than the last few. I recorded it on Instagram Live. Hence the logo.

As you can see from the video, the bag contained another very nice camera, A Nikon F90x with an MB-10 power grip. I said motor winder in the video as I hadn’t researched it then. It is quite a heavy camera, but a very good one. I got my own example while in Japan and used it when I wanted a reliable camera. I never had the grip, though. The grip makes holding the camera vertically easier, as there is a vertical shutter release button on it. The MB-10 battery grip has a quick-change battery tray, which slides in and out for fast changes. There is an MS-11 battery tray, which allows you to use 3v batteries. With extra trays, I can see this addition being very useful. I might invest in one as they are quite cheap at the moment, and it certainly makes the grip even handier.

The lens in the Tamron case is a Nikkor AF 24-120mm, with a f3.5 lowest aperture. With that lens on the camera, it is heavy but reliable, and it has a good zoom range for general shooting.

I put in some fresh batteries; there were some inside, but this is a power junky, so I wanted to be sure. Once in, the camera fired up as it should, and the lens focused without issue. Of course, once the weather clears up, I will try the camera with film. Though I am sure it will work perfectly, as the previous owner really looked after his stuff. Actually, I was surprised to find batteries inside the camera, as you can see from the video, I found the batteries and cap for the Yashica in a little bag. That was very thoughtful and stopped any chance of my missing them and causing battery damage.

The manual for the F90x was also in the bag. Excellent, it is always nice to have the proper manual. Once I have used the camera, I will update this post or add a photo post, as it might take a while to get around to it.

After testing the camera with batteries I got to cleaning the bag. I wanted to give it a quick clean, even though it wasn’t in a bad state, but you never know what is lurking in the corners. And I was right. Under the sturdy bottom panel, I found these.

One of those items was the cover that was missing from the front of the F90x, so I put it back in place.

So from the bag, I received 1 waterproof camera, 1 compact camera, 2 slr cameras with lenses, a tripod, a lens pen, a dark bag, and a stereoscope, which I will return to the owner the next time we meet up.

I also received some money and two of the cameras I already own. I think I will sell those on here and make a charity donation to Wakefield Hospice in honour of my mum and the bag giver’s family member, who also passed. Once more, I will update this blog when I have sorted all that out.

Holding this camera again, boy, it is heavy. I am going to put another strap on it, a wider, softer one.

As that is the end of the bag revealing, I am going to take a break from this blog for the rest of the month 🙂

A beautiful episodic adventure! With great suspense every day. That Nikon camera was meant for the Starship Enterprise 😄, beautiful and powerful.

Saved the best until the last! I have that camera’s slightly older brother, the F801S and also that same “Street Sweeper” 24-120mm D series lens. It’s a powerful combination with whatever film you choose to use.

It’s been a great series. A lovely touch your notion of a hospice donation in honour of your mum, fit really well with your blog.
My that Nikon is kind all the camera and then some. I’m guessing it was a pro or the very least semi pro model

Thanks, I’ve really enjoyed this series of daily bag openings. What a lovely gift you have received and very good idea for the hospice donation.

Enjoy the few rest from your blog!
