What’s in the Bag? Day Seven

We are now onto the main compartment, the biggest part of the bag.

I received a message from the giver last night that said the main compartment had sections, but they had covered the top of them. If I were careful, I could reveal the sections in stages.

Nice, I have tried one already, and when I looked at the camera post list, I saw I still had it. I don’t use that one much due to the number of cameras I have. As you saw, this example was missing a battery cover. It might be in the bag, but for today, I can’t look. I will have a better look tomorrow, but they don’t just fall off, so I suspect it was always missing. That was ok, as I said in the video, I have a habit of taking the battery caps off any junk cameras I send for recycling. I was sure I had one that would fit.

Here is the video of me trying one from that box.

Yatta!! It fired up and worked perfectly. The lens looked to be in near-perfect condition. When I looked through it, I saw nothing suspicious, though I do have a handy lens pen.

At some point, I will load it with film, plus I will recover it in some way. The seals need changing, but they should be light-tight. I will swap those out eventually. When I do all of that, I will add the results to this post. For now, look at this pretty camera.

Oh, and the Hama lens pen, that will stay in the bag, as you never know when you might need one. Just remember not to use it on the mirror or focusing plate.

Spoiler alert: Tomorrow, I am going to remove the dark bag. That means it will be the final day. What is remaining in the bag?

I love this era of Yashica/Contax cameras; in fact, I’ve been on the lookout for one for a while now. They’re not common in my country, unlike Electro 35s, for example, which are very easy to find. The images you get with your red skin Yashica are inspiring. Looking forward to the last day of the “What’s in the Bag? “

Well, if you weren’t on the other side of the world I would happily give you the red one now I have this. C’est la vie.
