Well, today was interesting. I received an email from a reader asking to meet up. I had met him before, when he very kindly lent me a Contax RTS III. I hadn’t seen this person in some time, since before the COVID-19 pandemic, and honestly, I thought the worst had happened. So the email was a lovely surprise.
He said he had a gift for me and a blog idea, intriguing. And this is it…

Ok, it’s a nice vintage Tenba canvas bag. Of course, that is not all, hence the title of the post. What is in the bag? In short…
I DON’T KNOW!!
He requested that I open it compartment by compartment, pocket by pocket. He thought it would make a nice series for the blog, something that I have not done before. He was right, and luckily, I think I have the willpower to do it. Though I hope to donuts the inside doesn’t have internal compartments too.
He said there was only one item he would like returned, and at the meeting, he showed me the section that was in. I could open that one right away, so I would know which it was. (I turned the sound off as I was watching TV when I reopened the compartment)
A stereo viewer!!! And he had printed a few of my own stereo photos, which was very sweet. Oooh straight after this, I am going to write another post about one of my stereo cameras. I have been meaning to do that, but have been distracted. When I tried the viewer, I could see the images in stereo perfectly. I will have to print out a few more to try.
I am so excited to see what is in the other sections of the bag. I might not be able to post full accounts of the items each day as I open the bag. The items might need work or testing with film; I have no idea what is going to be revealed. However, I can post videos and photos of the items here and on Instagram stories. You know what, I don’t care what is going to come out, I just love the idea of it all. I even love the bag!
Oh, and I don’t know how many compartments there are, so I am not sure how long this series will last, but this is day one!
Stunning gift and a brilliant idea! A gift of serial and suspenseful joy! Stereos, even if temporary! My word, to have such a richness in friends; how fortunate you are!
